From Full-stack to Full-leadership: Gayane's growth story with Eyes of Wonder

At Eyes of Wonder, growth isn’t just a goal - it’s part of the everyday magic. And few journeys embody that better than Gayane’s. What started as a role focused on execution grew into something far more expansive: a path toward leadership, vision, and impact.
In this story, Gayane reflects on the transformation she’s experienced - not just in her title from Full-stack marketer position to Content Marketing Team Lead, but in her mindset. Through challenges, self-discovery, and a lot of trust (both given and received), she’s become a team lead shaping global content strategy.
Here’s her journey, in her own words.
If you could go back and give your Day 1 at the company self advice, knowing what you know now — what would you say?
I would tell myself: “Don’t be afraid to take ownership earlier. Speak up, even if you're not 100% sure. Your ideas are valid, and your perspective will bring value. The sooner you step outside your comfort zone, the faster you'll grow.” In the beginning, I was way too careful , double-checking, triple-checking, overthinking even the smallest Slack messages.
I basically treated every simple task like I was launching a rocket. But over time, I learned that growth doesn’t happen when everything feels comfortable.
You grow when you trust your instincts, make decisions (even if sometimes you’ll need a Plan B), and simply go for it.
Was there a moment when someone at Eyes of Wonder saw potential in you before you saw it in yourself?
Yes - absolutely. My manager saw my potential to lead before I did. When I was mostly focused on execution, they started involving me in higher-level decisions — strategy, hiring, building processes. At first, I thought: "I'm not ready for this."
But they kept pushing me to step into those roles. Deep down, I probably knew I had those leadership skills, thanks to my previous experience — but when it’s a big international company, with a remote setup and bigger responsibilities, it feels a bit scary to fully own it. That trust made all the difference.
If your role today met the 'you' from your first day here, what do you think they'd be most surprised by?
Honestly — by how much responsibility I handle today, even compared to my previous leadership roles. If my Day 1 self could see me now — leading global SEO strategy, mentoring a remote team, managing major cross-functional projects, and driving business growth internationally — she’d probably have a mini panic attack at first, grab a coffee, take a deep breath, and then say: “Well… we did it!” ☺️
What's a skill or mindset you developed here?
Ownership and strategic thinking.
At the start, I was task-oriented — focused on getting things done right. But being here taught me to think beyond tasks: how my work impacts business goals, how to prioritize, how to forecast growth, and how to take full ownership of results. This mindset shift made me not just a specialist, but someone who drives real business outcomes.
What was the hardest part about transitioning or getting promoted — and what made it worth it?
The hardest part was letting go of perfectionism and learning to delegate. When you move into leadership, you can't do everything yourself. Trusting others, mentoring them, and learning to step back while still being accountable — that was a challenge.
But seeing the team grow, watching them succeed, and building something bigger than my individual work — that's what made it all worth it. The success of the team feels 10x more rewarding than any personal achievement. It’s been a journey from executing tasks to owning projects, from self-doubt to leadership, and from focusing on my own work to building a team that creates impact together. And honestly — I wouldn't change this growth for anything.
🚀 Stop waiting to feel “ready.” Gayane didn’t wait until she had it all figured out — she spoke up, took the leap, and grew into a leader by doing the hard, meaningful work. At Eyes of Wonder, we don’t just hire talent — we bet on potential.
